Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) publishes original research that uses model organisms to better understand, diagnose and treat human disease. The new Editors will work to promote rigorous preclinical analysis to provide models and mechanisms that will be useful for future drug development. The interdisciplinary nature of DMM requires that papers be of interest to experts in both clinical medicine and basic science research. Appropriate subject matter includes: (1) the development and validation of disease models, (2) the development of resources that promote the development of disease models, (3) mechanistic studies that have broad relevance to the disease and models community, (4) the use of established disease models to enhance our understanding of human disease mechanisms, diagnosis or treatment, and (5) preclinical analysis of drug candidates using model systems.
