《千金方》专辟“消渴”篇,共收载有关消渴病论6首,方65首,灸法6首。认为饮食不节是导致消渴的重要原因,而房劳过度、多服石散、情志失调或身体虚弱均可导致消渴,同时将消渴分为肠胃热实型、渴型、利型等三个基本类型,另对该病的针灸治疗、预后、禁忌以及并发症都提出相应认识,实为唐以前消渴病相关理论和临床经验的总结。

Golden Prescriptions for Emergencies opened the diabetes chapter, which collected 6 essays, 65 prescriptions, 6 moxibution methods. It stated that improper diet was the important cause of diabetes and intemperance in sexual life, over-taken powder, emotional stress or weak body could also cause diabetes. Meanwhile, it divided diabetes into three basic types: the intestine and stomache heat of excess type, thirst type, inducing type. In addition, it also put for ward some ideas about the acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, prognosis contraindication and complication.
